Heroes Detective Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes was very popular when first created, and remains popular to this day. What characteristics of Holmes and Doyle keep stories interesting generation to generation while a multitude of equipment detectives fiction are quickly forgotten? Give examples to illustrate your views. Deatils I need more.! =] I need more Deatils.! =]
First, I would say the character. He was ready to go very far with disguises, experiences, self important education campaigns and development of unusual personal contacts, all to improve their professional capabilities. It was also, in principle, not wishing to exclude evidence or embarrassing facts, and insisted on explanations that are compatible with all the evidence. He was courageous, dedicated, skilled, and persistent. Secondly, I think the style of the story questions. They are all presented as "thrillers", the evidence is available (though sometimes second-hand Holmes through activities rather than directly on its observations) and the reader is implicitly invited to compete with Holmes to solve the case. The closest modern parallel would be the first "CSI" television series. (The others failed to match the changing characters.)

The arch-villain Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes has been described as an enemy of the great detective. However, the character has actually that appears in two of the many stories, "The Final Problem" and "The Valley of Fear." It is mentioned in passing, usually as a reminiscence Holmes in five others. The ability of Conan Doyle, was sure to Moriarty as a strong character.
It is commonly accepted that Doyle invented the sole purpose of killing Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes, who, in spite of Doyle famous and rich, had become something of a burden on the author, who wished to devote other projects. For Sure, we all know the result. Fans of Sherlock Holmes were outraged by the alleged disappearance of his hero, and a vigorous campaign for their return. Doyle already had such an idea of the strength of feeling of Holmes as he did in fact leave the door open for Detective back in with Holmes and Moriarty falling by the Reichenbach Falls, but no body recovered. Sherlock Holmes has been properly raised. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that Doyle could possibly Moriarty has also been made yet.
There were several candidates for the inspiration for Professor James Moriarty. The name was probably based on the fact that Doyle went to school (Stonyhurst College) with two children called Moriarty. The best candidate (in my opinion) to his own character is probably Adam Worth (1844-1902), a prolific offense on both sides Atlantic, which in reality has been nicknamed "the Napoleon of crime in the world" Scotland Yard detective Robert era Anderson. The very words paraphrased by Sherlock Holmes in The Valley of Fear. "
Worth (perhaps born Werth) was born in Germany. When I five years his family moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. She ran away from home at the age of ten years and ended in New York through Boston. When I was seventeen years of civil war. By lying about his age, he enlisted in the Union Army, to be promoted to sergeant, then only two months. Wounded at the Second Battle of Bull Run in August 1862, was admitted to hospital in Georgetown, Washington DC. After hearing that had been listed as killed in action who has defected. The beginning of a long criminal career. New York, and ends in Europe. Including four years in prison in Belgium (was sentenced to seven years but was released early for good behavior) for a missed flight. He died in London, and was buried in Highgate Cemetery, under the name Henry J. Raymond. A slippery customer that leads to the last.
